Where do we collect personal information and how do we use it?

Our primary goal in collecting personal information is to provide Peoples Drug Mart and Peoples Pharmacy customers with a great shopping experience.

We use the customer contact information to fill orders, contact purchasers to inform them of their order status, to send promotional information, to enhance the operation of our web site and administer our systems. We gather information in the following ways:

People First Rewards

By signing the application form and /or first time usage of the People First Card, you signify acceptance of the terms and conditions of the People First Rewards program that accompanies your People First Rewards Card.

When you present your Peoples First card when making a purchase, a record is kept of your visit and what you purchased.

Purchase information may be analyzed to study market information.

Occasionally, the information provided by you or the information gathered may be used to furnish you with information and/or offers which we feel may be of interest or value to you. . If you do not wish to receive such information, please let the store owner or manager know next time you are in the store.

Information Collected from a Web Refill Request

The information you enter via the Web Refills site is protected using current SSL technology. SSL will confirm for you that you are connected to the server and that the information you enter there is encrypted so that it cannot be read by any third parties.

The information being collected is required so that the pharmacist and/or their staff are able to verify your identity and match it to the Prescription Number(s) you have indicated in this Refill Request.

We will be forwarding this information via email or fax to the pharmacist in the store you have indicated so that they can complete your Prescription Refill Request.

They will then fill the prescription using the government approved prescription processing computer systems, which they utilize at their individual stores. This system is bound by a separate agreement between the store and the government for maintaining the security of your information.

The information you enter on this web site will be kept on file for not more than two years after which it will be deleted.

The information will be used only for the Pharmacist’s verification and refilling of your prescription, and for Peoples Drug Mart (B.C.) Ltd. to improve the effectiveness of this service.

We are very interested in making this service as simple and easy to use as possible, therefore we may contact you to find out about your experience using this it as we look for ways to improve on it. Other than that, you will not receive any solicitations as a result of using this service unless it pertains specifically to your Refill Request.

Sometimes, in the filling of a prescription, it is important for the pharmacist to contact the patient, the doctor who issued the prescription or both. By using this Web site to request a prescription refill, you are giving the pharmacist permission to contact either, should the need arise.

Limited demographic data is collected at our site from our third party advertising server, who provides us with the postal code and area code associated with a visitor's server, along with pages viewed on our site.

We review the actions visitors of the web site on an aggregate basis to determine customers' preferences.

We occasionally offer free newsletters and promotional e-mails as a service to our customers. We will send you newsletters and e-mails periodically listing current specials and deals. If you do not wish to receive such information, please let the store owner or manager know next time you are in the store.

Contact Information and Third Party Data

If you contact or our customer service representatives by telephone, e-mail or letter, we may keep a record of your correspondence or comments. If you report a problem with our site, we may collect such information in a file specific to you. If you contact us through our feedback area or by calling one of our customer service representatives, we may ask for your name and e-mail address in order to send you a reply.
